Survivors

of cardiac arrest may notice a wide range of psychological and physical effects as they recover

Family Members

might face their own challenges, for example if they are supporting a survivor, or grieving the sudden loss of a loved one.
Some family members may require medical check-ups and are considering genetic testing.
They may experience flashbacks to the event.

Witneses

of sudden cardiac arrest might feel distressed or traumatised by their experience. Some witnesses will also be family members or friends, while others might be strangers (for example, bystanders who have witnessed a cardiac arrest in a public place).
